The Quiet Things that No One Ever Knows

I'm trying to be organised!!

With so much going on, 4 projects, part time work, and everything else that goes on day to day I have decided it's time to finally organise myself so below is a timetable of my work schedule for the next two weeks.

Week Beginning - 1st November

Week Beginning - 8th November

Its difficult to continue this pattern as I have to work around my part time job where my shifts change weekly, the rotar is 'supposed' to be a month in advance but that is almost never the case.

Everything in it's Right Place

Project 4  (AD207)   Hand in date - Thursday 21st May 9am

AD207  Work Based Learning 2 (20 Credits)

  • Work Based File

As part of my part-time work at House of Fraser, I have been given the opportunity to go to the brand new store opening in Sheffield (Meadow Hall) to help out with the merchandising team to get ready for the grand opening.

I have spoken to Clare (work placement officer) and have decided to use this opportunity as my work placement also.

The trip is four days all expenses paid, from today until the 27th October.

Going to catch the train now :) ...

The Shape of Things to Come

The message explores folding paper in an abstract way rather than following a pattern

'Stop Designing, Start Playing'

Conveying no need to create a specific object, play with what you working with...

Have fun with it, create something original.

The First Cut is the Deepest

AD208

As well as producing a garment for this module I must also document the process throughout and record it in a development file together to show the final garment.

- Cutting out the Bodice Toile

- I changed the position of the panels so the bodice would be more structured and stand away from the body with ease.

- I fitted the front of the bodice onto the mannequin to see what adjustments needed to be made, this also demonstrates the success of the panel movement as the pointed area is standing away from the mannequin (even without boning)

An Attempt to Tip the Scales

I decided to split my day into two parts today..

9am-12noon
AD203

This morning I concentrated on putting together the final presentation of the work, I focused on adding extras to my sketch book and portfolio; including sampling and fabric swatches.

I also managed to organise my portfolio to see what I needed to complete/improve on for hand in on the 10th.

1pm-4pm
AD208

After lunch I started to look at my final design and thought about the garment construction ready to cut the pattern out in next weeks session.

I did this by starting with a basic dress block, traced it off on pattern paper and started to sketch out my specific panels and construction details.

Let the Reigns Go Loose

Considering we did not receive the brief for the PPD i.e 'this blog' until October, I haven't really updated what happened mid September, basically this post is just showing some of my sketchbook work which I worked on throughout the summer and the first few weeks of college.

Final Mood Boards

I chose to collaborate these pieces of research together as the two mood boards for my portfolio as I feel it is my best research from the project, it works well as it involves all aspects of my research including 3D works and my own personal origami interpretation as well as a colour palette and a definite silhouette.

ORIGAMI

extravagant-diy-magazines-1.jpg

extravagant-diy-magazines-4.jpg

I have chosen the theme 'Origami' the Japanese art of paper folding. I think I will come up with some great ideas from this theme including a fantastic final garment.
With so much skill and so many techniques in which are involved within Origami I believe I have the freedom to create a complete Avant Garde gown, which I think Anh is most definitely looking for, something a bit quirky and out of the ordinary to spice up her label maybe.
